The Lame Duck is a small bar on the corner of Gertrude St and Smith St above some small retail shops. The Lame Duck is a quirky and welcoming bar, with a pool table, regular karaoke sessions and after work drinks. ‍ On a Friday and Saturday Night, Lame Duck offers a DJ and Dance Floor and gets very busy due to it's small size and unique music genre selection. The music at the Lame Duck is disco, retro pop throwbacks and female vocalist orientated music, such as Madonna, Donna Summers and Kyle Minogue. The Lame Duck constantly reaches capacity and gets long lines most weekends. This particularly happens when Fitzroy Beer Garden closes and Yah Yah's line is too long. The crowd is typically female and LGBTQI+, with a lower percentage of males than most clubs. The average age of Lame Duck is mid to late 20s and early 30s. ‍ Thursdays are karaoke night. While karaoke doesn't too busy, the crowd is very enthusiastic and the night can be very fun.
