The Band Room at the Corner Hotel in Richmond is an iconic live music venue. Opened in 1871, the Corner Hotel is one of Melbourne's oldest pubs. The Corner Hotel remodelled the venue to incorporate a live music stage In 1984. This was during the peak of the Aus Pub Rock scene popularised by artists such as The Screaming Jets, Sunny boys, The Angels and Hoodoo Gurus. In 1988, Dave Gilmour, the lead guitarist from psychedelic rock band Pink Floyd and Mick Jagger, the lead of The Rolling Stones, separately performed secret shows at the Corner. There are a number of historical moments associated with the Corner Hotel. The White Stripes created the Seven Nation Army guitar riff during sound check before their show at The Corner. The band room of the corner has been used in multiple music videos for U2, The Living End and many more. The Corner Hotel has won or been nominated for the Best Venue over 500 capacity every year between 2016-2021. The band room capacity is around 800 people.
