Bank Hotel
324 King St, Newtown NSW 2042, AustraliaUpcoming Events
Owned by Sydney hospitality chain Solotel, The Bank is a Newtown landmark. Right next to the station and situated at one of the most confusing intersections in Sydney, the Bank is smack bang in the heart of King St. When you first walk in, it looks much smaller than it is. Once you walk through the front room you realise how big it is. The beer garden is arguably one of the best features of the Bank. Open space design, with sunlight pouring in and heaps of tables. The Bank is also attached to, what we consider a different venue - "Waywards". It hosts local and national artists in a great band room/event space. Waywards usually has a cover charge and different events, so we won't recognise it here. The crowd is usually 30+ and usually quite alternative. The Bank also hosts midweek LGBTQ+ events so is very welcoming to this crowd, but Friday and Saturday is not exclusively LGBTQ+. In the front bar, top 40, classic/throwback and commercial music is usually the vibe. Expect feel good, upbeat singalongs. There is a pretty reliable dance floor in the front bar on Friday and Saturday. It gets going from 10:30-11pm.
Gigs upstairs, hidden beer garden out the back, weekly LGBTQI+ nights on Wednesday and Thursday. An oldies dance floor in the front bar.
