Guerns Thursdays
Weekly Thursday at New Guernica The self proclaimed 'Thursday Rave Ritual' offers a re-mixed House and Techno centric alternative to a weekday offering. Boasting a well-considered sound and lighting system, Drink specials starting at $3.5 and two rooms with nooks to explore. Guerns Thursdays is a weekly staple for Uni Goers, Back Packers and 'I start work late on Friday-ers.'
Music & Entertainment
The Guerns mainroom presents mostly high-energy, deep and vocal driven house. Whilst no stranger to a musical curveball, sets here constantly re-appeal to familiarity throughout the nights progression. Plugging in an 2000's Aussie-Electro-cult-dance classic, a throwback or an array of dance edits/ remixes between an unknown house thumper - Guerns DJs aim to strike a chord amongst both casual punters and seasoned dance aficionado's. While upstairs, a dive-bar known as the 'attic' bumps up the BPMs. A rotation of Dj's and crews take turns curating the space. Typically falling between Indie Dance, Electro and commonly Rave, techno and trance.
Crowd
On a typical week you'll find a core Uni Crowd, whilst often a hot-spot for back-packers and holiday goers the average age is between 18-25. On Long weekends, and the Summer and New Years Holiday period the crowd is more akin to a standard weekend club night. Attendees here aren't suburb-centric, you'll find people from around Melbourne. For early arrivals, from 9pm the first hour is normally used as a spot to grab a cheap drink and a chat. With entry being free before 11pm, it usually begins to peak soon after midnight, with both rooms running a dancefloor. Maintaining a bustle until late, the crowd tends to thin out from 3am til close.
