About

Dom Dolla was born in Manila, Philippines, and later lived in Darwin, NT (Northern Territory) until the age of 13 or 14. He then relocated to Melbourne, where he developed a passion for dance and house music, immersing himself in record collecting and the associated culture. Melbourne, with its vibrant house and techno scene, played a significant role in shaping Dom Dolla's musical journey during the majority of his adult life until his recent move to Los Angeles. Upon settling in Melbourne, Dom Dolla began sneaking into clubs, collecting music obsessively, and naturally progressed to DJing. His exposure to Melbourne's robust house and techno culture quickly influenced him. After completing high school, he pursued design studies, eventually becoming a graphic designer and establishing his own freelance design firm. Specializing in typography, logo development, and 2D art, he worked with Frontier Touring and Mushroom Records, designing tour posters and merchandise for international artists touring Australia. While building a successful career in design during his early twenties, Dom Dolla simultaneously engaged in DJing and running club nights over weekends. His manager, James, who was a DJ at the time, noticed his talent and passion for music production. Dom Dolla, driven by his growing success in music, made the pivotal decision to focus on it full-time. Despite the initial financial challenges, within a few months, he started playing interstate and receiving international bookings within a year. This transition allowed him more time for music production, contributing to his growth as a producer while leveraging his established competence as a DJ, cultivated over many years.
